Seemingly untouched by the 21st century, Bolton Castle is an exceptional location for film and photo shoots.

Located just two hours from London by train (via Northallerton), this medieval castle spans five floors and features a variety of atmospheric spaces, including a dungeon and a suite of rooms where Mary, Queen of Scots, was reportedly held.

  • Dedicated areas for dressing and makeup nearby

  • Simply decorated interiors—ideal for staging and set design

  • Views across the Wensleydale valley

  • Formal gardens, including a maze and vineyard

  • Outdoor spaces available for filming

We regularly close the castle to the public for private events and productions. Previous filming includes Game of Thrones, Channel 5’s Anne Boleyn, and a range of fashion shoots.
