ome and enjoy a spooky Halloween at Bolton Castle from the 24th – 31st October
There are a range of experiences suitable for the whole family. Follow the trail around the castle courtyard and meet characters from its history; the creepy witches, the rats and bats, the headless man, and the pumpkins. There are many opportunities to be involved. Come already dressed in your Halloween outfit, or alternatively have a photo opportunity dressed as a witch or castle guard whilst you are here. Put yourself into the stocks and pillory, or dare you lift the coffin lid or go alone into the dungeon?
There will also be storytelling in the Great Chamber on the 24th, 25th, 27th, 28th, 30th & 31st October at both 11am and 2pm. These events are included within the usual admission charge but are ticketed events and places must be booked so we can monitor numbers. A maximum of 30 people at each session and family groups will be socially distanced from each other.
Don’t miss this opportunity to enjoy Halloween in a truly atmospheric, historic setting.
In light of the current Coronavirus situation, we request that our visitors pre-book online, for a specific day ahead of your visit. Visitors who have already booked will be given priority on arrival. This will enable us to monitor visitors’ arrival and limit cash transactions. If you do not have a pre-booked ticket, please be patient if you are asked to wait for as minimum amount of time as possible. You can also pre-book an activity pack for children here and a guide book here
Pre booking ensures that we can better monitor visitor numbers and maintain your safety. Please pick a date and book the appropriate tickets, and, where there are specific events included in a day, this will be stated.
Your safety is our priority. Please note that we have made some changes to your visit to the castle in line with Government Covid-19 Guidelines and we are working hard to make your visit as easy and memorable as possible. From 14 September, we ask for the contact details of a member of your party in line with track & trace procedures. Details will be retained for 21 days. Masks/face coverings must be worn in the castle. Please use the sanitiser as provided and check our new signage throughout your visit.
The tea room is open Wednesday to Sunday inclusive.
Please enjoy our gardens, with maze and views across the open countryside. We continue with twice daily falconry demonstrations and wild boar feeding and talks, weather permitting. Falconry Experiences or Hawk Walks are postponed this year but vouchers can be purchased for next year.
