Halloween

Why Bolton Castle is Great Value for Halloween!

As one of the country’s best preserved medieval castles, Bolton Castle has many a tale to tell. Owned by the same family for over 600 years, the scars of the castle’s turbulent history are brought alive at Halloween with tours, trails, story times and interactive activities for all the family.  Many famous people have visited, and we think some have returned to haunt this busy castle. Find out who has been spotted wafting through our dungeon and enjoy being spooked with stories to raise the spirits – literally! Dressed to thrill, the castle will also include trails with pumpkins, skeletons and cobwebs to make our ghosts feel at home, and a raft of events for all the family to take part in. Or just relax and find out how the history of the castle has given rise to some mysterious sightings over the years.

We’re good value too. All our Halloween events are included with entry from Sunday to Sunday 16 to 30 October, and our visitors can enjoy a daily programme of Halloween-themed events and activities.  Dare you partake in a photo opportunity with ‘Death’s Apprentice’ at 11am? Get the shivers with story time at 1pm Great Chamber and from 2.15pm watch the trial of Esmerelda the Witch – a light hearted, interactive event for children to bring on the giggles! We’re ready to welcome you whatever the weather!

Fancy something just a bit special for Halloween? Then join us for Bolton Castle by Lanternlight on Monday 24 October. 6pm to 8pm, £20 pp, and see the castle as you’ve never seen it before. Flickering candlelight transforms the castle which enhances that medieval feel, and hear all about the castle and its mysterious goings on with our knowledgeable tour guide from 6pm until 8pm – all told by lanternlight as you tour the castle.  The evening closes with a glass of wine while you sit by the fire for more tales and chat to get you into the spirit – no pun intended!  Booking essential.

Tickets for castle and gardens entry cost £12.50 per adult, £9 per child and £48 family for castle and gardens. We encourage our visitors to book their tickets ahead via our website or on our App.
