Come and meet a Royalist officer holding the castle for the king and learn about the castle’s role during the war, the causes of the Conflict, and the major battles that took place.
The castle was under siege for 6 months during 1645, finally surrendering on November 5th 1645, having run out of food the garrison were allowed to leave taking all their arms and equipment. Lord Scrope was a supporter of the king, so the castle was Royalist.
